WALKING; the Route Saint Jacques from Arles goes through Vidouze, but with miles of tiny lanes and �chemins ruraux', unpaved lanes or tracks, there are lots of options, from short ambles to more serious expeditions. One of our favourites is a walk around a nearby lake, the Lac du Louet, with wonderful views of the Pyrenees; 11km, or 5km if you only want to do half!

GOLF; there are a number of 18-hole golf-courses in the area. One of the newest is near Marciac; www.chateaugolfdepallane.fr . There are two courses in Pau, where you can play on the oldest course in Europe.

WHITE-WATER RAFTING; lots of options, but the nearest to Maison Flouquet is at Agos-Vilados, just south of Lourdes, www.rafting-ecolorado.com

SKIING; we are 90 minutes from one of the largest and most varied skiing areas in the Pyrenees, Barrege-La Mongie, so it is quite easy to go skiing for the day.
