WALKING; the Route Saint Jacques from Arles goes through Vidouze, but with miles of tiny lanes and ‘chemins ruraux', unpaved lanes or tracks, there are lots of options, from short ambles to more serious expeditions. One of our favourites is a walk around a nearby lake, the Lac du Louet, with wonderful views of the Pyrenees; 11km, or 5km if you only want to do half!

GOLF; there are a number of 18-hole golf-courses in the area. One of the newest is near Marciac; www.chateaugolfdepallane.fr . There are two courses in Pau, where you can play on the oldest course in Europe.

WHITE-WATER RAFTING; lots of options, but the nearest to Maison Flouquet is at Agos-Vilados, just south of Lourdes, www.rafting-ecolorado.com

SKIING; we are 90 minutes from one of the largest and most varied skiing areas in the Pyrenees, Barrege-La Mongie, so it is quite easy to go skiing for the day.
